Dave Way has been involved with automobiles from a very young age. When Dave was just 10 years old, he would spend every weekend at the garage assisting and learning from his Dad who was a Master Mechanic. By 15, Dave was a full-fledged mechanic working weekends and summers doing major work on many makes and models of domestic and foreign vehicles.
Dave continued his automotive work after graduation from High School to earn money to put himself through a Mechanical Engineering BS degree program at Northeastern University in Boston. Dave’s best memories of the coursework was the time spent in the engine labs enhancing engine performance and in Kinematics class where the work included things like – speed/acceleration profiles, gear ratios and angular velocity, and many other aspects of automotive engineering.
Following graduation from Northeastern, Dave went to work as an engineer for a major US utility. In addition to earning his Master of Business Administration degree at night, he quickly rose up through the ranks. When Dave took an early retirement this year, he was the SR VP responsible for the delivery of major multi-million dollar construction projects. Now that Dave is retired after 33 successful years with the utility, he is devoting all his time to his passion – automobiles.
Although Dave was very busy during his career, he always made time for automobiles. If he wasn’t working on one of his restoration projects or customizations, he was at a car show, helping family/friends with auto issues or transactions, at one of the New England speedways, or reviewing the latest automobile literature.
Dave is incredibly driven as demonstrated through his successful career and is excited to be doing auto appraisal work full time now that he is retired from the corporate world. Dave considers himself very fortunate to have been trained by one of the best in the auto appraisal business – Jeff Hyman of Classic Auto Appraiser in Orange County, CA. The team, which Dave is now part of, has over 60 years of diverse automotive industry experience. They are renowned leaders in the classic automobile industry.
